dark fantasy fantasy review TV

Review: Amazon’s ‘Carnival Row’ has potential but lacks spark

It’s hard out here on these mystical streets – especially Carnival Row.

A human detective and a fairy rekindle a dangerous affair in a Victorian fantasy world, while a string of murders collapses the city’s uneasy peace.

Carnival Row is a dark fantasy with an interesting premise, but suffers from uneven pacing and scattered plot focus. Also, it tries way too hard with the sex scenes to remind us it is an “adult” fantasy show.

Watch my full spoiler-free review of the new series from Amazon Prime for pros, cons, trigger warnings, and to see if it is Twisted Girl Approved!
