Candyman! Candyman! Candyma- You know what? I love myself, so I won’t even continue that sentence because I’d like to live to see another day.

It looks Jordan Peele’s Candyman sequel (reboot? remake?) is shaping up casting wise as Deadline broke the news that Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits) and Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead) are gearing up to say Candyman’s name five times in the mirror!

The two actors are joining Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Us) and Teyonah Parris (If Beale Street Could Talk) in the upcoming reboot of the horror film.

I’ve always felt that Candyman is a monster that has yet to receive the appreciation that he truly deserves. Not only as a mainstream monster, but a dark entity so closely connected to the real life historic monster in the U.S.– SLAVERY.

The Candyman movie franchise is based on the short story “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker. It follows a graduate student in Chicago completing a thesis on urban legends, which leads her to the legend of the Candyman, a vengeful ghost of an artist and son of a slave who was lynched and murdered in the late 19th century.

Let us pray to the horror gods that Candyman’s original portrayer, Tony Todd, will make an appearance in the new film.

Candyman will be distributed by Universal Pictures with a release date set for June 12, 2020.
